Peace — the universal Muslim greeting. You say it when you arrive, when you leave, and to anyone you meet.
God willing. Used for future plans, hopeful outcomes, and sometimes polite refusals.
God has willed it. Said when something is beautiful, impressive, or worthy of gratitude.
In the name of God. Said before eating, beginning work, or starting anything meaningful.
Permissible under Islamic law. Most commonly refers to food prepared according to Islamic guidelines.
Forbidden under Islamic law. Also used colloquially to mean something is a shame or waste.
The global Muslim community — a bond that transcends borders, languages, and cultures.
A personal prayer or supplication to God. Unlike salah, dua can be made anytime, anywhere.
